The Health Promotion Team delivers culturally responsive health education and awareness programs across Cape York communities. Through school visits, community events, and partnerships with local groups, the team promotes lifelong wellbeing and empowers individuals with practical health knowledge. Services are delivered year-round through workshops, campaigns, and hands-on activities.

Healthy Kids Healthy Habits

Fun and interactive sessions teaching children essential hygiene practices like teeth cleaning, nose blowing, and hand washing.

Core of Life

A hands-on education program for teens and communities, offering practical, culturally inclusive knowledge about pregnancy, parenting, and family wellbeing.

Strong Born FASD Campaign

Raising awareness of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and the risks of alcohol use during pregnancy and breastfeeding in rural and remote communities.

By engaging our communities across Cape York, we’re improving health literacy and empowering our people to make great decisions about their own health, and pass that knowledge on to others.

Apunipima is improving our service with a major system upgrade. Centres will be closed this Thursday 11 June from 12pm, and all day Friday 12 June while we perform this important work. Thimithi-Nhii Primary Health Care Centre in Mapoon will be closed all day Thursday 11 June. Normal opening hours resume Monday 15 June 2026.
