Starlight Children’s Foundation Travels to Cape York
This week’s school health checks in Wujal Wujal presented a wonderful example of Apunipima partnerships in action. Collaborating with Queensland Health and the Starlight Children’s Foundation, the Apunipima team worked with the Bloomfield River State School to perform 40 child health checks.
Captain Starlight kept the students engaged by performing magic tricks, face painting and colouring in. Each child received a fabric tote bag with a co-branded message reminding students ‘Don’t Make Smokes Your Story’ and that ‘Sugary Drinks Are Proper No Good’. Inside each bag were hearing health promotion resources from the Australian Hearing to promote healthy ear habits, a toothbrush and toothpaste to encourage healthy teeth, and a healthy piece of fruit.
10 staff, 2 days, 40 healthy kids and a great team!
