Mapoon is a small community 80km north of Weipa.

Rich in natural beauty, Mapoon is home to some of Australia’s most pristine environments. The community is also known for its fishing and abundance of “Bush Tucker.”

In the 2016 census, Mapoon had a population of 317 people which Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people made up 87.3%.
