Aurukun Store Making Healthy Changes
The Apunipima Nutrition Team has been working with the Aurukun Island and Cape store to promote healthier food and drink choices.
The changes include:
- Taking 1.25L full sugar soft drinks out of the fridge (to be sold at room temperature)
- Removing any promotions on unhealthy food and drinks
- Reducing the shelf space of table sugar, soft drinks, cordials, sweet biscuits and confectionery
Recent research in remote stores has shown these changes are highly effective at reducing the purchase of high sugar food and drinks.
This partnership will help support health and nutrition in Aurukun.
