10 Mar 2009

The Cape York Transport and Accommodation feasibility is near completion, however the study still needs to be finalised.

A workshop proposal with key stakeholders (Apunipima, Alluna Land Trust, Qld Health, Department of Health and Aging and the Indigenous Coordination Centre) to consolidate and finalized the report, the workshop is expected to be held at Apunipima board room in mid March 2009.

The study found both short term and long strategies to address the short fall in patient transport, with the short term strategies being negotiated in purchasing a mini bus and drivers, the long term will be the establishment of the Alluna Land Trust as the Cape York Transport and Accommodation Centre with the expectation of establishment being within the next 18 months. There is still a lot of discussion with the government for support in the in development of the Alluna hostel.
