Apunipima’s aim is for excellence in quality clinical care that is measured by patient satisfaction along with maximising patient safety, ensuring Australian general practice standards, optimising health outcomes using the Family and Community Centred Approach, ensuring sustainable health delivery systems and continuous improvement quality cycles.
In keeping with the declaration of Alma Ata, this also includes utilising current best clinical practice and evidence based clinical guidelines and applying them in comprehensive holistic primary health care.
Apunipima promotes a whole of organisational culture that has these principles embedded as described in the Family and Community Centred Approach. We promote culturally safe and secure services that match cultural affinities of our client group, based on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership.
As an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation, we promote a high degree of community and individual client involvement in quality assurance, health service planning, feedback and accountability, through formal integrated community structures such as Health Action Teams and our board.
