The Bamaga Community Centre has grown to become the largest centre in the Northern Peninsula Area.
The Public Swimming Pool, Hunter’s Gymnasium, NPA Hospital, Primary Health, Ambulance, Court House and Police Station are located in Bamaga. These provide services to all communities.
The Bamaga Resort is also located here. It has a restaurant, conference facilities and a motel section that caters for the large number of tourists who now pass through the general area.
Bamaga has one major supermarket/variety store which is operated by the Islander Board of Industry and Service. The IBIS services most islands throughout the Torres Strait.
The store at Bamaga is air-conditioned and has a comparable food line with major retailers in Cairns. The store does have frozen meat from Cairns butchers.
Bamaga is the location of the Northern Peninusula Area State College. It is made up of the Bamaga P–6 Campus and Bamaga 7–12 Campus within the Bamaga township and the P–5 Campus which is located in the Injinoo Community.
Bamaga has an established Child Care Centre for early childhood schooling.
The Cape York Campus of TAFE is in Bamaga. The campus provides a wide range of tutorial courses from seamanship to practically any other course. The campus is a branch of the Far North College of TAFE situated at Cairns.
