Under its present contracts Apunipima provides no health services to the people of Bamaga but does offer advocacy services through its Primary Health Care Unit should people wish to access them.

The Bamaga Hospital has medical nursing officers who can capably handle most cases presented. Emergency cases are assessed and patients are either flown to Thursday Island Hospital by Australian Helicopters under contract to the Department of Emergency Services or by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to Cairns.
There is a Queensland Health dentist at the local hospital.
Bamaga and surrounding communities are also serviced by the Queensland Ambulance Service and have one of the most modern ambulances in use in Queensland today.
